Teatro Museo Dali

Las diferentes colecciones de la Fundación Gala-Salvador Dalí incluyen todo tipo de obras de arte: pintura, dibujo, escultura, grabado, instalación, holograma, estereoscopía, fotografía, etc. De estas, unas 1.500 están expuestas en el Teatro-Museo Dalí de Figueres.

Con el nombre de Teatro-Museo Dalí se incluyen tres espacios museísticos diferenciados, que proponen un recorrido libre y personal a través de sus salas:

1) El Teatro-Museo, propiamente dicho, formado por el viejo teatro municipal incendiado convertido en Teatro-Museo partiendo del criterio y diseño del propio Salvador Dalí. Este conjunto de espacios forman un único objeto artístico donde cada elemento está intrínsecamente ligado al conjunto.

2) El grupo de salas, resultado de las progresivas ampliaciones del Teatro-Museo, donde la intervención personal de Dalí es testimonial o inexistente. Estas salas forman parte físicamente de Torre Galatea, y en ellas se exponen obras del legado de Salvador Dalí, montajes ópticos como las estereoscopías y los anamorfismos, así como también las nuevas adquisiciones realizadas por la Fundación.

3) La sala de exposiciones Dalí·Joyas, inaugurada en 2001, donde se presentan las treinta y siete joyas de oro y piedras preciosas de la antigua colección Owen Cheatham, dos joyas realizadas posteriormente, y los veintisiete dibujos y pinturas sobre papel que Salvador Dalí realizó para diseñar las joyas.

El Teatro-Museo Dalí contiene un amplio abanico de obras que describen la trayectoria artística del pintor ampurdanés, desde sus primeras experiencias artísticas—impresionismo, futurismo, cubismo, etc...—y sus creaciones surrealistas, hasta las creaciones de los últimos años de su vida. Algunas de las obras más destacadas que se exponen son Autorretrato con l’Humanité (1923), Port Alguer (1924), El espectro del sex-appeal (1932), Retrato de Gala con dos costillas de cordero en equilibrio sobre su hombro (1933), Autorretrato blando con bacon asado(1941), Poesía de América-Los atletas cósmicos (1943), Galarina (1944-45), La cesta del pan (1945), Leda atómica (1949) y Galatea de las esferas (1952), entre muchas otras.

También hay que destacar el conjunto de obras realizadas por el artista con la finalidad expresa de ser expuestas de forma permanente en el museo, obras que van desde pinturas y esculturas hasta complejas instalaciones monumentales. En este grupo destacan la sala Mae West, la sala Palacio del Viento, el Monumento a Francesc Pujols y el Cadillac lluvioso (podéis hacer una visita virtual).

Si bien la obra expuesta es básicamente de Dalí, también hay obras de otros artistas que él quiso que se expusieran: Antoni Pitxot, Evarist Vallès, y la colección privada de Salvador Dalí con obras de El Greco, Marià Fortuny, Modest Urgell, Ernest Meissonier, Marcel Duchamp y Gerard Dou. Igualmente, en diferentes salas del Teatro-Museo se pueden encontrar, entre otras, obras de Bouguereau, John de Andrea, Wolf Vostell, Meifrén y Ernst Fuchs. Desde la muerte de Salvador Dalí, en 1989, también puede visitarse la cripta con su tumba, situada en el centro del museo; un espacio que fue remodelado en 1997 para exponer una colección de joyas de oro diseñadas por el artista.
